"A recent graduate from Whitecliffe (Auckland), Dowling's striking paintings explore the performative nature of human behaviour often with an unsettling edge.  A keen observer, Dowling integrates the seemingly familiar into her paintings but has a knack for inserting an element of unease or surprise, raising questions for the viewer around the construction of the self." Wendy Richdale, 2017, Curator Ramp Gallery Hamilton
